Our Trainer
Lyz Knight (she/her)
IAABC-ADT, CPDT-KA, FFCP
Lyz is an Accredited Dog Trainer, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, and a Fear Free Certified Professional who has been working with dogs and their people since 2016.
Lyz became interested in training after adopting her first rescue dog, Molly, in 2014. After initially being introduced to training methods that mainly utilized corrections for “bad” behaviors along with rewards for “good” ones, Lyz’s curiosity grew and she began pursuing more in-depth education about animal behavior and the science of learning. As she discovered all of the benefits of modern humane training methods, she ditched the correction-based training and became certified as a positive reinforcement and fear-free trainer! Her experience with her own dogs coupled with her expertise as a multi-certified trainer allows Lyz to approach your training needs with empathy and compassion as well as professional knowledge.
Lyz loves working with puppies and with guardians of nervous and reactive dogs to help them see their dogs blossom into confident, comfortable pups. She also loves supporting dog guardians who want to change from correction-based training and don’t know where to start! When she’s not training your pet, Lyz is hanging out with her wife Megan, their rescue dogs Molly and Buck, and their cat Minerva.
Our Mission
Rover Rehab is committed to helping you and your pet live your best life together. We use modern, effective training methods to teach appropriate behaviors without the use of force or fear. We will work with you and your pet to empower you with communication, cooperation, and connection during training and life with your pet. With our training, you will be able to tackle any challenges you may be facing and build a life of happy harmony with your furry friend.
Inclusivity is Important to Us
Rover Rehab is a queer-owned business that is committed to providing a respectful and supportive learning space for all pet parents. We strive to create training programs that help support pet guardians regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, or neurodiverse identity. We won’t get it right all the time, but we are committed to continuing to learn and to take in feedback that informs how we structure our training programs and services.
We believe that every pet parent deserves access to quality training that meets their individual needs and helps their dog thrive. All pet parents deserve to feel welcome and respected during their training sessions, and to know that we are here to support them in providing the best possible care for all members of their family, both human and canine.
